Strategic marketing & communications, delivered in the shape that fits.

Some organisations need a defined piece of work: a brand built, a campaign planned, a function audited and put back on course. Others need senior capacity inside the team for a period, or ongoing strategic input alongside the team they have.

Most engagements draw on more than one.

Services

Each can run on its own or sit inside a longer engagement. Pricing is scoped per project and arrives at proposal stage.

01

Communications audit

A strategic review of your marketing and communications function. Audiences, channels, content output across the team, brand consistency, capacity, and whether the strategy underneath the activity is doing real work. The audit finds the gap between what is being produced and what the organisation actually needs. You receive a written assessment and prioritised recommendations, ready to take to a board, a leadership team, or straight into a plan.

Right for

Organisations that sense something isn't working but haven't been able to name it. Also a starting point before a longer engagement.

There is a gap between what you produce and what the organisation needs. I find it.

02

Brand and positioning

The strategic clarity work underneath a brand: what the organisation stands for, who it's for, how it talks about itself, and what makes it distinct. I lead the thinking, facilitate the workshops with your leadership team, develop the positioning framework and messaging architecture, and write the brief for any design or creative work that follows.

Right for

Organisations building a brand for the first time, repositioning after a period of drift, or redeveloping their mission, vision, and values.

I do the strategic thinking underneath the brand before any design begins.

03

Campaign strategy and plan

The strategic foundation for a marketing or communications campaign, internal or external. Whether it's a fundraising push, a public awareness moment, an advocacy campaign, an internal change programme, or an organisational launch, I develop the strategy that holds the campaign together: the audiences, the positioning, the channel approach, the messaging, and the phased plan your team executes against.

Right for

Organisations with a significant campaign moment ahead and a team ready to deliver it, who need the strategic architecture in place first.

I develop the strategy that holds the campaign together.

04

Content and editorial system

A working system for producing and delivering content consistently. The editorial calendar. The role of each channel: social media, newsletter, web. Formats the team builds from, rather than starts from each time. The scheduling workflow. AI-assisted production that keeps quality consistent without doubling the workload. Most teams produce content reactively because the system for doing it any other way isn't there. This is that system.

Right for

Marketing and communications teams whose content output is inconsistent or reactive, who want a system the team can run without senior input at every step.

Most teams produce content reactively because the system isn't there. This is that system.

05

AI fluency training

Practical, hands-on training built around how your team actually works. The tools worth using and the ones to ignore. Prompting that produces consistent output, not lucky output. How to set up brand voice and context so the team isn't starting from scratch every time. Safe practice across data, accuracy, and approvals. Not a theoretical overview, not a general introduction to AI.

Right for

Marketing and communications teams who have started using AI tools but haven't found a way to make them work consistently.

Prompting that turns lucky output into reliable output.

How I work

Three engagement shapes. Any of the services above can be delivered inside one of them.

Fractional

I hold the marketing and communications function from inside the team for a defined period. Not freelance support delivered from outside: fractional is strategic ownership. Most engagements start with a Communications audit that defines scope, priorities, and rhythm. Commitment is set at an agreed number of days per month. Suits organisations without a marketing and communications lead, those in a growth or change phase, or teams strong on delivery but needing strategic leadership above them.

Advisory

Strategic input on a lighter-touch, ongoing basis. Monthly or quarterly rhythm, shaped around what the team needs: regular review of marketing and communications strategy, a sounding board for the team lead, or input into trustee and board-level conversations about positioning, reputation, or change. Suits organisations with a capable team already running the function who want senior perspective rather than hands-on delivery. Often starts with a Communications audit.

Per project

Strategic judgement on a defined piece of work, without ongoing commitment. A working session on a brand or messaging challenge. A consultation on a decision the team is working through. Scoped to what's in front of you, agreed in advance. This can be strategic thinking or hands-on delivery: a website rebuild, a content calendar, a signage plan, a campaign brief. If you have a defined job and need someone to do it well, this is the shape.

How an engagement starts

You send a message through the form or by email. I reply within two working days. We book a 30 to 45 minute discovery call by video.

The call is a conversation about what the organisation is dealing with, what would actually move it forward, and whether I'm the right person for that. If I'm not, I'll say so and point you to whoever might be. If we're a match, you receive a written proposal within a week: a one-page summary to share with a board or leadership team, plus a short annex covering scope, approach, credentials, and fees.
